Syntrophy of Crypthecodinium cohnii and Zymomonas mobilis for the production of omega 3 fatty acids from biofuel and sugar industry by-products
Aim of the project
The aim of the project is to create syntrophic co-cultivation of two microorganisms (Crypthecodinium cohnii and Zymomonas mobilis) at the level of a bioprocess laboratory prototype, transforming renewable energy sources (sugar industry by-product - molasses and biodiesel production by-product - glycerin) into valuable vegetarian (microorganism-produced) docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) from omega 3 groups of fatty acids.
