Laboratory of Bioengineering

Microbial engineering – balance in nature, health and growth of the economy.

About the Laboratory

We are a laboratory that studies the cultivation processes of various microorganisms, i.e. extraction of biomass or biosynthesis products of microorganisms. We are proud of our research experience in the investigations and improvement of the cultivation processes of bacteria, yeasts, mycelial fungi and microalgae. We apply bioengineering methods to increase the efficiency of biotechnological processes, including process analytical tools (monitoring, modeling, control), process scaling in suitable type of bioreactors and product separation/characterization.

Keywords: bacteria, bioreactors, fermentation, mycelium fungi, microfungi, microorganism cultivation, yeasts, process analytical technology

Research Directions

  • Bioprocess development of agricultural and forestry microbial products: plant biostimulants and biocontrol agents
  • Process and data analytical tools, modeling and control
  • Optimization and scaling up (upscaling) of microbial cultivation processes
  • Design and prototyping of bioreactors
