Wood materials are essential in building, and nowadays wood materials are rediscovered as a beneficial and sustainable building material. We improve the properties of wood materials with different methods:

  • impregnation,
  • thermal modification,
  • applying coatings,

and testing of the obtained materials, including, investigations about their applicability in the outdoor facades of buildings. Our competencies also include wood protection and restoration of cultural heritage sites, we investigate the microbiological degradation of wood.

We obtain composite materials from readily available agriculture, forestry and recycled wood resources in a combination with fungi mycelium, or with innovative ecological adhesives (suberinic acids, tannins, lignin, microcrystaline cellulose) or ones obtained via steam explosion.

Thermal isolation materials can be prepared from biomass fiber materials, or we can synthesize foam polymers with various compositions, to approach increasingly green processes.
