Development of innovative body skincare products and unique cosmetic raw material, stabilized with multifunctional particles of birch outer bark extractives

The scientific objective of the project is to carry out industrial collaborative research related to economic activity, combining the chemical engineering sector and the cosmetics industry, as well as to promote the transfer of knowledge by carrying out a systemic study of the interaction of the components of Pickering cosmetic cream emulsions stabilized with eco-innovative, multifunctional particles of birch outer bark extractives for the development of body skincare products and unique cosmetic raw material based on cooperation partner - a cosmetics manufacturer current market needs, as well as the scaling up of the industrial production of these cosmetic products.
Main Project Activities
- Evaluation of Pickering emulsion preparation methods and investigation of obtaining cosmetic raw material.
- Developing and adjusting the formulations of cosmetic creams, scaling up the production of cosmetic raw material/product prototypes and characterization of samples.
- Validation of the scaled industrial production process methodology, collection of data necessary for accompanying documentation, and in-depth testing of the best cream product prototypes.
- Prototype development of the industrial production technology of Pickering emulsion creams stabilized with particles of birch outer bark extractives.
Dissemination of knowledge created within the project in the form of training, publications or technology transfer.

- Collaboration between one research organization and two industry partners.

Total Project Funding: Total costs excluding VAT: 882,354 EUR. ERDF support: 600,000 EUR (co-financing rate: 68%).
