LSIWC participates in the international 4Growth mission in Hong Kong and Shenzhen

The Scientific Director of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LSIWC), Dr. sc. ing. Uģis Cābulis, and Leading Researcher of the Polymer Laboratory, PhD Miķelis Kirpluks, participated in the international mission of the Interreg project 4Growth in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

The mission brought together representatives from four countries – Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and Sweden. Latvia’s participation in the project is coordinated by Cleantech Latvia.

During the visit, meetings were held with academic and innovation ecosystem representatives, including City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, and Invest Hong Kong, as well as with stakeholders from the Qianhai innovation ecosystem in Shenzhen.

Uģis Cābulis delivered a lecture to students and researchers at City University of Hong Kong, presenting LSIWC’s achievements in cryogenic insulation – from fundamental research to practical applications. Meanwhile, PhD Miķelis Kirpluks presented the institute’s activities and engaged in discussions on potential cooperation with partners from the Greater Bay Area.

The visit contributed to establishing new contacts and advancing collaboration opportunities in the fields of bioeconomy and materials science.
