Scientific interests and competences
- Biomass extraction, including extraction with liquefied gases
- Selection of methods for studying extracts and isolated groups of compounds, incl. proanthocyanidins, for use in various fields (in medicine and veterinary – for the production of anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial agents; in woodworking – for the production of adhesives)
- Chemical characterization of lignin, lignocellulosic biomass, and extracts using various analytical methods
- Modification of lignin and lignocellulose with silicon-containing compounds to create organo-mineral complexes
- Technical lignins obtained in the production of bioethanol and paper, characterization, and application possibilities
- Evaluation of biomass and its post-extraction residues for the production of solid fuels, animal feed, and fertilizers
- Biomass granulation, testing the properties of granules following EU requirements
- Development of biorefinery schemes that maximize the full use of biomass of plant origin
- Testing of plant growth stimulants in laboratory conditions (climatic chamber) and field trials
- Algae biomass studies
