Use of residual logging biomass for production of environmentally friendly plant protection products and soil additives
Project summary
In order to reduce the use of chemically synthesized fertilizers and pesticides, the aim of this project is to develop environmentally friendly products in demand on the market - plant protection products and multifunctional soil additives, using logging residues obtained as a result of forest care as raw material for these products.
Improving soil quality and combating plant diseases, without using chemically synthesized fertilizers and pesticides, for beneficial cultivation of forest productive material, horticulture and agricultural products is an urgent issue. The project will demonstrate that the biomass of logging residues is a high-value raw material for obtaining plant nutrients and protective substances. As part of the project, environmentally friendly products will be developed - plant protection products and multifunctional soil additives, using logging residues obtained as a result of forest management as a raw material for these products. In the course of the project, data sets will be created, using them for the preparation of scientific articles; gained new knowledge about the target properties of extracts and proanthocyanidins obtained by extracting them from prepared biomass in different seasons and in different forest management/felling places; the effectiveness of the soil additive and protection agent, which will be summarized in the know-how and reports.
