Travelling Exhibition "Research Latvia 2026"

The travelling exhibition "Research Latvia 2026", created by the Ministry of Education and Science, offers a unique opportunity to get to know 12 outstanding Latvian scientists and their contribution to the development of society and research. In February, the travelling exhibition and the science calendar highlight the work of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry and the achievements of its researchers, emphasising the institute’s role in Latvia’s research landscape. From 3 to 27 February the exhibition can be seen at the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (Dzerbenes street 27), and from 16 to 27 February at “AKROPOLE Alfa”. The exhibition is open to all interested visitors.

Twelve leading scientists representing 12 major Latvian research institutions demonstrate the strength and diversity of Latvian science within the European Research Area. In cooperation with the science communication platform researchLatvia, the calendar and exhibition "Research Latvia 2026" showcase research topics explored by Latvian scientists that influence our society, environment, and culture. Each scientist represents a unique field of research.

“A scientist must create new knowledge and objectively assess ongoing processes. This is the foundation for developing innovative and safe products and technologies, as well as an essential prerequisite for ensuring societal well-being,” emphasises PhD Edgars Kuka, a researcher at the Laboratory of Wood Biodegradation and Protection.

Throughout the year, the travelling exhibition will be displayed at various higher-education institutions and other public and cultural venues across Latvia. By scanning QR codes, visitors will be able to watch all 12 video stories. This initiative not only increases the visibility of science but also strengthens the public’s connection with research.

Following last year, when higher-education institutions were featured in the calendar, this year the science ambassadors initiative continues with a focus on state research institutes.

We invite you to watch a special video about our researcher Edgars Kuka.
