Seminar on professional burnout for LSIWC staff

LVKĶI darbinieki apmeklē semināru par profesionālo izdegšanu

On 4 February, the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry hosted clinical psychologist and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy specialist Ph. Marija Ābeltiņa who gave a lecture "How to keep the zeal, but not to burn out". Marija is an experienced trainer and supervisor, active in both science and practice. Her dissertation is on the topic of professional burnout and she has published several scientific articles on the subject.

Marija Ābeltiņa revealed the signs of professional burnout, risk factors, help options and prevention methods. During the seminar, each individual employee and the collective team had the opportunity to reflect on their working style and ways of managing stress. During an interactive exercise, it was possible to discover the assessment of LSIWC employees on various factors of the working environment, and it turned out that the biggest problem was related to the bureaucratic burden in everyday life, while the most positive factors were remuneration and good team relations, which, as the lecturer acknowledged, are a valuable resource to ward off the risks of burnout.
