LSIWC represented at high-level events in Brussels – the Pilot Infrastructure Fair and CBE JU Info Day

On April 3–4, 2024, Dr. sc. ing. Uģis Cābulis, Scientific Director of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LSIWC) and Head of the Polymer Laboratory, represented the institute at two major events in Brussels.

On April 3, he participated in the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) Info Day, where the 2025 project calls were announced – totaling €172 million across 13 funding topics. One of the topics – Valorisation of untapped forest biomass (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2025-RIA-01). Dr. Cābulis also took part in pre-arranged B2B meetings, where he met with 7 scientists and project coordinators to explore potential collaboration.

On April 4, 2024, Dr. sc. ing. Uģis Cābulis participated in the European Pilot and Demonstration Infrastructure Fair, held in Brussels and organized by Pilots4U by CoPilot, supported by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU).

At the event, Dr. Cābulis gave a pitch presentation about the Pilot Scale Hangar – LSIWC’s pilot infrastructure complex, its capabilities, and experiences – and engaged in discussions with potential collaboration partners.

Thanks to active participation in the Pilots4U community, LSIWC was among just 25 selected pilot infrastructures from across Europe invited to this high-level event. This represents an important milestone in enhancing the institute’s international visibility.

The Pilot Scale Hangar is gaining increasing recognition in the European scientific and industrial landscape, particularly in regions where such infrastructure has been less developed. This recognition opens new opportunities for cooperation and growth in both academic and industrial sectors.
