LSIWC and CLEANTECH LATVIA Collaboration: From Project Proposal Development to International Knowledge Exchange

The long-standing collaboration between the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LSIWC) and CLEANTECH LATVIA has, in recent years, created opportunities to implement several significant initiatives. With the support of the cluster, the FIBRIX project proposal was further strengthened, and the Institute was also able to participate in the international Leap4Growth innovation mission to Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

CLEANTECH LATVIA is a cross-sectoral innovation cluster operating in the fields of the bioeconomy, clean technologies, and the circular economy. The cluster supports companies and research organisations in developing new projects, building international partnerships, entering export markets, and attracting funding.

One example of the collaboration between LSIWC and CLEANTECH LATVIA is the preparation of the FIBRIX project proposal. With the support of CLEANTECH LATVIA, the Institute had the opportunity to work with professional proposal development consultants to further strengthen the FIBRIX proposal. Following an international evaluation, the FIBRIX project was approved, and its implementation will begin soon.

Another example is LSIWC's participation in the Leap4Growth innovation mission to Hong Kong and Shenzhen. With the support of CLEANTECH LATVIA, travel costs were covered, enabling Scientific Director Uģis Cābulis and Leading Researcher Miķelis Kirpluks to present the Institute's research activities to an international audience, establish contacts with potential collaboration partners, and gain first-hand insight into Asia's innovation ecosystem.

During the visit, Uģis Cābulis, Scientific Director of LSIWC, also delivered a guest lecture at the University of Hong Kong, introducing students and researchers to the Institute's work in the fields of space technologies and cryogenic insulation.

These examples demonstrate how collaboration between LSIWC and CLEANTECH LATVIA contributes both to the development of new projects and to strengthening the Institute's international visibility. Looking ahead, LSIWC plans to continue its cooperation with CLEANTECH LATVIA through joint projects and by promoting knowledge transfer.
