Opening seminar of the project Subt4Potato at LSIWC
On November 29 of this year, the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry hosted the opening seminar for project No. 24-00-C0LA1601-000032, titled "Production and application of a microbiological preparation under farm conditions for increasing yield in horticulture and crop farming enterprises'' (Subt4Potato). The seminar brought together representatives from the project partners: the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LVKĶI), the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics (AREI), Aloja Agro Ltd., and ALOJA-STARKELSEN Ltd.
The aim of the Subt4Potato project is to explore the production and application possibilities of a new microbiological product containing Bacillus subtilis MSCL 1441 bacteria, primarily for use in organic-profile horticulture and crop farming.
During the opening seminar, the project partners shared their experiences related to the project theme and discussed the progress of several ongoing activities, including:
- Exploratory and experimental work on the use of potato starch wastewater for obtaining microbiological preparations.
- Exploratory work and the development of a field research plan for the 2025 season.
- Production of the Bacillus subtilis MSCL 1441 microbiological preparation.
Administrative issues related to project implementation and current publicity measures were also addressed. Participants toured the relevant infrastructure of LSIWC’s Bioengineering Laboratory and visited the newly constructed LSIWC’s pilot equipment hangar.
