Dr. Uģis Cābulis participates in the world’s leading polymer processing conference – PPS-40 in New Zealand

From April 22 to 25, the 40th International Conference of the Polymer Processing Society (PPS-40) is taking place in Auckland, New Zealand. This landmark event brings together top polymer scientists and industry professionals from around the globe to discuss the latest discoveries, advanced technologies, and sustainable solutions in polymer processing. This year, special attention is dedicated to the challenges of climate change, resource efficiency, and the advancement of multifunctional composite systems.
The anniversary conference gathers participants from over 30 countries, representing universities, research institutions, and companies across high-tech, biomedical, energy, packaging, and transportation sectors. PPS-40 stands as one of the most authoritative global platforms in the field of polymer processing, fostering dialogue among academics, researchers, and industry leaders from all continents.
Dr.sc.ing. Uģis Cābulis presented his research findings on the integration of rigid polyurethane (PU) foams with phase change materials (PCMs) for enhanced cryogenic insulation performance. His presentation highlighted how the incorporation of PCMs, with their latent heat storage capability, can significantly improve the thermal regulation of PU foams under extreme conditions, while preserving mechanical integrity and insulation performance across a broad temperature range. This research contributes to the institute’s ongoing efforts in the development of sustainable and energy-efficient materials.
The conference is hosted by the University of Auckland – internationally renowned for excellence in materials science and engineering. It provides an inspiring environment for global scientific collaboration and the exchange of ideas.
