Dr. Uģis Cābulis Represents LSIWC at Evergreen Prize 2025 in Vienna

We are pleased to share that our Scientific Director, Dr.sc.ing. Uģis Cābulis, represented the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry  at the inaugural Evergreen Prize for Innovation ceremony, held on May 26, 2025, at Vienna City Hall.

Organised by HS Timber Group and powered by the Evergreen Privatstiftung, the Evergreen Prize is a prestigious research funding initiative that supports pioneering scientific projects developing new materials and products made from wood, forest biomass, or reclaimed timber.

The event brought together over 900 guests from the wood-processing sector, forest-based industries, research institutions, and civil society. Five finalist teams from European universities presented their innovative projects, with the winner determined by a live vote from all attendees via a mobile app.

Dr. Cābulis noted that the themes of the finalist projects closely align with LSIWC's research areas, including lignin-based wood protection and mycelium-based building materials. This underscores our institute’s position at the forefront of European wood science. We are committed to participating in future Evergreen Prize competitions to showcase our research and innovations.
