Abstract Submission Continues for WSE 2026 Conference
Abstract submission remains open for the international conference The 22nd Annual Meeting of the Northern European Network for Wood Science and Engineering (WSE 2026), which will take place in Riga on September 15–16, 2026. Abstracts can be submitted until June 10, 2026.
WSE 2026 will bring together researchers, PhD students, and industry professionals in the field of wood science and engineering from various countries to discuss current challenges, the latest research, and innovations in the wood sector.
The main theme of this year’s conference is: “The life of wood in an ever-changing world.”
The conference will focus on the impact of climate change on wood throughout its growth, use, and end-of-life stages, as well as on solutions for the sustainable and resilient use of wood in the future, with a particular emphasis on wood as a material.
In addition to the conference, a training course will take place on September 14, 2026, offering participants an opportunity to gain deeper insight into current industry-related topics and build professional connections in an international environment. The course will be free of charge for conference participants; however, the number of places is limited, and priority will be given to PhD students.
The organisers invite researchers and industry experts to take this opportunity to present their work to an international audience, establish new collaborations, and engage in discussions on the development of the wood sector in the context of climate change.
This year, WSE 2026 is organised by the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry in cooperation with Riga Technical University.
The conference is supported by Nordic Forest Research (SNS), funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers, as well as Latvijas Finieris, Arxada, Koppers, ZAZA TIMBER, the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency, and the association Latvijas koks.
