SAMPUR
Project Description
01.07.2025
The scientific aim of the project is to conduct a non-economic industrial collaborative research initiative by combining the fields of chemical and materials technology and promoting knowledge dissemination. The project seeks to develop a new eco-innovative zero-waste technology for producing high-quality bio-based polyol from birch bark (a non-food industry by-product) suberinic acids and their derivatives, suitable for the industrial application of rigid polyurethane insulation foams.
Main Project Activities
- Depolymerization of birch bark and extraction of suberinic acids for polyol synthesis
- Development of low-viscosity polyols from suberinic acid fractions and their derivatives
- Development and industrial testing of rigid polyurethane thermal insulation foam
- Data utilization, dissemination, and management
- Communication and visual identity activities
Main Project Results
- 14 testing reports
- 1 eco-innovative technology prototype
- 3 new product prototypes
- 6 scientific publications
- 1 patent
- Collaboration between one research organization and two commercial enterprises
Project Implementation Period: From July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028
