Research area

The research work done at the Liquid Chromatography Centre provides a high-level analytical approach to the classical research directions of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, as well as the development of modern analytical methods.

Qualitative and quantitative analysis methods for the characterization of wood processing products are developed and optimized. Until now, liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry methods have been developed and applied for wood hydrolysis and pyrolysis products, various extracts of wood, bark and other biomass, but the modern and powerful equipment also opens up possibilities for the determination of other analytes of biomass origin, and the preparative isolation and purification of specific compounds.

The Liquid Chromatography Center promotes cooperation between LSIWC laboratories and strengthens contacts with other scientific institutions. The equipment of the Liquid Chromatography Center is used in the implementation of various research projects, and students of various study programs develop their final theses with the equipment.
