Forest road dust supression. Stage 2 – technologies approbation.

Project summary

Based on the obtained laboratory results, in cooperation with the Riga Technical University,  SIA «Ceļu eksperts» and JSC “Latvijas autoceļu maintainer”, the technological processes for dust suppression on the forest gravel roads were tested in the Plakanciems and Tome areas, using technical lignosulfonates, calcium chloride and their combinations as dust suppressants. The activities included soil sampling at a depth of 5 cm from the treated gravel surface of the autoroads and their analysis of changes in the content of lignosulfonates and their combination with calcium chloride, as well as determining soil moisture throughout the entire period of the investigation of the dedusted roads.
