Visiting Researcher from the Czech Academy of Sciences
MSc Priscilla de Souza Lima from the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry (IMC), Czech Academy of Sciences, is visiting the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LSIWC) for ten days within the framework of the mobility project “Bio-based and recyclable material development by unleashing the potential of covalent adaptable networks (RecCAN)” (No. LZA-25-01).
Originally from Brazil, MSc de Souza Lima is a researcher in the field of green chemistry, synthesis of polyurethane via non-isocyanate routes for different applications, improvement of performances of renewable foams using different additives for general applications such as thermal insulation.
During her first visit to Latvia and to LSIWC, she shared her impressions:
“The Institute’s mission and projects have an amazing goal — to explore all the possibilities of wood as a raw material for many parts of the supply chain, enhancing the potential of sustainability and green chemistry by transforming local resources into new technologies. The facilities here meet all the needs for this purpose, from synthesis to scale-up laboratories. The work environment is very kind, connected, and helpful.”
The collaboration between IMC CAS and LSIWC, supported by the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Latvian Academy of Sciences, aims to promote the exchange of PhD students and young researchers, fostering knowledge sharing and joint research on bio-based and recyclable materials.
“I expect to learn different methodologies, exchange knowledge, and develop a fruitful collaboration,” adds MSc de Souza Lima.
