Ph.D. Daniela Godiņa – Laureate of Latvia’s Women’s Achievements Top 2025

Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry researcher Ph.D. Daniela Godiņa has been included in the Pastaiga magazine’s Latvia’s Women’s Achievements Top 2025. Daniela’s recognition by Pastaiga highlights how the new generation of scientists, with passion and perseverance, is able to engage and inspire the wider public.

Daniela’s daily work is devoted to the creation of bio-based polymer sorbents from birch bark extractives – a field where chemical precision, the sustainable use of natural resources, and creative exploration meet.

A Science Ambassador

In addition to her work in the laboratory, Daniela is actively involved in science communication, public engagement, and leadership. She serves as the Chair of the Student Council at the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry and is a member of both the Latvian Young Scientists’ Association and Nucleate Baltics. In 2024, she received the Baltic States Women in Science Fellowship.
