On 27 November this year, the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry hosted the second meeting of the Bioeconomy Memorandum participants. The aim of the Memorandum is to create and sustain a new biorefining ecosystem, making a significant contribution to the development of Latvia's bioeconomy.

The Memorandum, signed on 18 June 2024 by 22 participants, stipulates that all stages of the biomass production value chain, from raw material extraction to the production of the final product, must take place in Latvia.

The Memorandum is the basis for national and international cooperation between companies, public institutions, higher education institutions, scientific institutions and foundations that promote sustainable innovation. Regular meetings and communication between the Memorandum's participants reinforce the commitment to bioeconomy principles and improve cross-sectoral cooperation.
