LSIWC Researcher Laima Vēvere on a Career in Science and a Material Developed in Latvia for the “Ariane 6” Launcher

In a recent interview, LSIWC researcher Laima Vēvere shares her journey in science and her work on polyurethane materials made from renewable raw materials. For the past 15 years, she has been researching materials for cryogenic insulation – including polyurethane foam insulation developed by LSIWC scientists for the fuel tanks of the European “Ariane 6” launcher.

The interview also looks at Laima’s current research on materials that could potentially be used for hydrogen-powered aircraft, as well as her experience working in science and the diverse opportunities a career in chemistry can offer.
