LSIWC Researcher Anda Fridrihsone Presents Polymer Sustainability Research at CONECT 2025

From May 14–16, 2025, Riga hosted the 18th International Scientific Conference of Environmental and Climate Technologies – CONECT 2025, organized by the Institute of Energy Systems and Environment of Riga Technical University.
Ph.D. Anda Fridrihsone, leading researcher at the Polymer Laboratory of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, presented two research topics during the event:
- The TReResin project (LCS FARP Nr. Izp-2024/1-0333), which focuses on the environmental assessment of bio-based vitrimer components;
- The BIODESIGN4INSULATION project, featuring a life cycle assessment of bio-based polyols derived from used cooking oil (UCO).
Although the projects deal with different polymer types, they share a common goal: using waste-based feedstocks—specifically used cooking oil—as renewable raw materials to support circular economy principles and reduce dependence on fossil-based resources.
During the conference, Anda actively engaged in the poster session and panel discussions, where numerous questions and valuable feedback from fellow researchers highlighted the relevance of her work.
We congratulate our colleague on her excellent scientific contribution and thank the organizers for a vibrant and productive CONECT conference!
