LSIWC represented at an international Space Industry-Science Seminar

From 18 to 22 August, Riga Technical University (RTU) hosted the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme “Space Industry-Science Workshop”, which brought together students, academic staff, and industry representatives from Latvia, Finland, Sweden, and other European countries. The programme aims to strengthen collaboration between space science and industry by developing new cooperation models in space mission planning and technology development.
The Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LSIWC) also took part in the seminar, represented by Dr. Uģis Cābulis, Head of the Polymer Laboratory and Scientific Director of LSIWC. His presentation focused on the role of materials science in future space technologies, highlighting polymer materials developed at LSIWC and their potential applications in high-tech projects, including the aviation and space sectors.
The seminar offered participants a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in space mission design, working together with internationally recognised researchers and industry experts. Organised by RTU and its partner universities, the programme also serves as a platform for fostering collaboration between research institutions, companies, and start-ups in the preparation of future space project proposals.
