LSIWC joins the European project ForestValue2

The Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry has joined the European collaboration network ForestValue2, which unites public funding organisations from several countries to promote research and innovation in the forest-based bioeconomy.

The Institute’s participation strengthens Latvia’s position within the European Research Area (ERA) and promotes international cooperation in forest science and bioeconomy.

“We are soon joining the new initiative — Partnership FOREST, coordinated by EUFORE.
Latvia will be clearly represented as a partner country, and the first project calls in our thematic areas will be announced in 2026.
This means that LSIWC will have a lot of work ahead to prepare for participation and to strengthen its competitiveness.”

About the project ForestValue2

ForestValue2 is a European network of public funding organisations that promotes the coordination of national and regional research and innovation programmes in the forest-based bioeconomy. The project strengthens the European Research Area (ERA) and contributes to the objectives of the European Green Deal.

ForestValue2 brings together partners from 11 EU Member States — Finland, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Slovenia, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Estonia, and Romania — as well as Norway as an associated country.
One of the project’s main goals is the implementation of joint transnational research calls, which will result in the funding of collaborative R&I projects across countries.

The project places special emphasis on building research excellence, by strengthening R&I capacity particularly in EU13 countries, as well as in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.

ForestValue2 is coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland (Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland).
