LSIWC researchers visit Turkey’s largest furniture manufacturer, Bürotime
Leading Researchers of the LSIWC Cellulose Laboratory, Inese Filipova and Laura Andže, have returned from a business trip to Turkey’s largest furniture manufacturing company, Bürotime, located in Konya, a city renowned for its ancient history.
The exchange of experience between the scientists and the industrial partner took place within the framework of the Bio-Acouis project. At the company, Inese and Laura became acquainted with the practical and design aspects of manufacturing furniture from veneer and various types of pressed particleboards.
On 16 and 17 April, a seminar for all project partners and guests, "Environmentally Friendly Acoustic Materials: Design, Performance and Industrial Transformation" was held. It was organised by Necmettin Erbakan University together with LSIWC and Wood K plus - Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH.
During the seminar, Inese delivered a lecture "Sustainable Panel Materials: Natural Fibres and Green Binders", in which she presented both the research carried out by LSIWC in this field and provided a broader overview of the possibilities offered by natural materials.
Inese was also entrusted with moderating the discussion "Industrial Transformation and Circularity", where participants agreed that targeted steps are needed to stimulate the production and application of sustainable materials by involving scientists, designers, manufacturers, end consumers, and, above all, policymakers.
