Grand Prix Award for the Best Packaging in Latvia 2023

The award of the annual competition ""Best packaging in Latvia 2023" winner is the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry with its packaging project for the protection of packaged products with granules of mycelial composite material (author Dr.biol. Ilze Irbe). The prize – participation in the international competition WorldStar For Packaging in 2024.

Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, Cellulose laboratory for the mycelium composite material and ecological egg packaging (authors Dr. Ilze Irbe, Dr. Inese Filipova, Dr. Laura Andže , Mg. Martins Andzs, Mg. Mārīte Škute, Bsc. Marija Terēze Dzierkale, Dr. Juris Zoldners) received a total of 8 prizes: 

Grand Prix, one 1st place and one 3rd place in the evaluation of the expert jury, as well as Recognitions for the secondary packaging project of mycelial composite material and the project for the protection of packaged products with granules of mycelial composite material from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development in the nomination The most environmentallyfriendly packaging, from The Green Dot Latvia for a sustainable packaging solution, from the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU)Technology and Knowledge Transfer Department, as well as from the Packaging Association of Latvia and the Latvian Designers’ Society.

Packaging prototypes were developed and produced within the project No. 1.1.1.1./20/A/113 “Development of ecological and biodegradable materials from natural fibres with functional biopolymer additives”
