Dr.sc.ing. Aivars Žūriņs named among the State Emeritus Scientists
On January 8 of this year, the leading researcher of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry Dr.sc.ing. Aivars Žūriņs was awarded the status of State Emeritus Scientist for his significant contribution to science. Congratulations!
Aivars Žūriņš is a long-time employee of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, in 2000-2012. also the director of the institute, and he has developed wood thermochemical processing technologies, which are described in high-quality scientific articles and implemented in cooperation with entrepreneurs, for example, in the production of coal with various applications - from grills to carbon nanomaterials in the energy sector. Aivars Žūriņš is a full member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences and the Latvian Academy of Agricultural and Forest Sciences, has contributed to the lecture courses of Latvian universities and supervised students' bachelor's, master's and doctoral theses.
Currently, Aivars Žūriņš is the manager of several projects and continues to look for new solutions to increase the value of wood pyrolysis products, provides consultations to entrepreneurs, and also actively participates in the work of the Scientific Council of LSIWC.
