Anna Andersone successfully defended her doctoral thesis "Research on the zero-waste uses of sea buckthorn lignocellulosic biomass for sustainable manufacturing of multifunctional products” on 30th August at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences. The goal of the doctoral thesis was to evaluate the lignocellulosic biomass of sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) as a potential source of serotonin and proanthocyanidins, offering an innovative solution for the complex processing of lignocellulosic biomass without residue to obtain competitive, functional, environmentally, human and animal-friendly products.

Anna is a researcher at the Laboratory of Lignin Chemistry of the Latvian State Insitute of Wood Chemistry, the supervisors of her thesis were Dr. sc. ing. Uldis Spulle of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, and Dr. sc. ing. Sarmīte Janceva of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry.

Congratulations to Anna, and best wishes for her future work!
