The Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry will be hosting the International Conference for Young Scientists on Biorefinery Technologies and Products BTechPro 2022 on April 27-29, 2022 in Riga, Latvia. Students and young researchers from different countries are welcome to participate in this event to present their scientific work, and to give and get feedback from their peers. The conference will also offer:

  • workshops,
  • plenary lectures,
  • social and match-making activities,
  • submitting a full-length scientific paper,

all aimed at promoting young scientists’ professional skills and establishing contacts between research groups working on biomass processing issues.

The Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry has successful previous experience of hosting international events (10th Conference on Green Chemistry and Nanotechnologies in Polymeric Materials GCNPM 2019, 12th Annual Meeting of the Northern European Network for Wood Science and Engineering WSE 2016, 5th European Conference on Wood Modification ECWM 2010, COST action seminars, and others).

We are hopeful that spring of 2022 will be favourable for an enjoyable real life event in Riga, but in case of travel restrictions we will provide a platform for a virtual conference.

Call for abstracts will be open on September 6, with abstract submission deadline on November 22. All research related to different aspects of valorisation and characterisation of biomass are welcome, but the main topics of the conference will be:

  • biomass feedstock pre-treatment,
  • biomass processing and extraction,
  • biomass-based materials,
  • bioengineering technologies,
  • synthesis of bio-based chemicals and polymers,
  • characterisation of biorefinery products.

The participants will have the opportunity to submit a full-length scientific paper to a conference special issue, to be indexed in the leading data basis.
